21st Annual Labor Day Parade, Rally & Picnic "Honoring America's Workers" in Ishpeming, Monday Sept. 6th @ 11am
The Parade The theme for this year
is
"Honoring America's
Workers". This
year's parade marshals are State Representatives Mike Lahti
of the 110th district and Gary McDowell of the 108th
district. Mike Lahti is running for the 38th state senate seat
currently held by term limited Mike Prusi. Gary McDowell is running for
U.S., Representative Bart Stupak's seat. We encourage Local
Unions to march and enter floats in the parade that reflect this theme.

confirm your participation. Parade line up will be based upon the order
in which Locals respond, so please respond early! The Picnic & Rally The picnic & rally run from 12 – 4. The rally will include music by Fast Eddies Blues Band, speeches from elected officials and candidates, along with children’s activities. Once again we will have available a picnic lunch, the cost of lunch tickets will remain at $4.00. The menu includes the following; pasty, hot dogs, desert and pop. Tickets for adult beverages, pop and water will be available for at a cost of 4 for $5.00 or $2.00 each.
Museum Tours Transportation
and Directions from Marquette and Negaunee MarqTran will be providing transportation to and from Ishpeming from both Marquette (JC Penney Mall parking lot) and Negaunee (Lakeview School parking lot). The scheduled times are as follows:
JC Penney Westwood Mall 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Lakeview School 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Cliffs Shaft 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.
This event has become very costly to the Labor Council and is very labor intensive, so we are requesting that all affiliates and participants contribute as follows:
1. Make a cash donation to the Labor Council to help defray the cost. Donations may be sent in care of the Marquette County Labor Council, 31 Forge Road, Negaunee, MI 49866. Unaffiliated locals are encouraged to PLEASE make a donation or at least $1.00 per member.
2. Purchase food/beverage tickets at the ticket tent before the Parade begins.
3. Recruit volunteer workers for the day of the event. Please fax a list of volunteers (names and phone numbers) to the attention of Kathy Carlson at (906) 225-1530 or email to mt1149@charter.net.
4. Participate in the planning meetings or give feedback to the Committee on ways to improve the event.
Union locals are asked to PLEASE encourage everyone to pitch in so all who attend can enjoy the day!
