Delegates from local unions make up the core of the Marquette County Central Labor Council. Affiliated unions appoint representatives to the Council and they provide the main link between the Council and affiliated unions. Central Labor Councils are chartered directly by the National AFL-CIO. The Marquette County Central Labor Council serves as the voice of working people in the local community by uniting and mobilizing the labor movement.

The Marquette County Central Labor Council is involved in many activities. A key role is to build community support for issues affecting working people. We need to continually build and strengthen relationships with community groups and leaders. The Union Label Committee works to promote union made products and services. Labor’s role in American politics is aimed at ensuring local, state and federal government officials address issues in a way that is beneficial to working people. Other functions of the Marquette County Central Labor Council are strike support, education of union membership and community service.
